Book Trailers are video previews for books similar to what a movie trailer is for a feature film. They are often cinematic in style and are a visual representation of the content of the book.

Book trailers are not only marketing videos for authors and publishers, but also powerful tools for readers: they help book fans rapidly search for new novels and make informed decisions about what they’re choosing to read. A great book trailer will give insight into the novel’s world and characters, but won’t give away any more spoilers than would have been on the back cover.

In order to be a book trailer, the video must meet five technical criteria as outlined in this article. Not all promotional videos about books are book trailers.
